Pelican partners with Saab Australia on JP2060 to develop 150 unique case designs for military equipment

Pelican partnered with Saab Australia to design and manufacture military-grade medical and dental equipment packaging for field hospitals and specialised environmental testing equipment.

Under the Australian Defence Force’s JP2060 Ph3 Deployable Health program, Saab will supply and maintain over 550 health modules to deliver clinical care, including surgery, advanced medical imaging, trauma and intensive care services. Saab’s advanced healthcare capability will help the ADF rapidly deploy lifesaving medical equipment and services across Australia and globally. 

Our partnership aimed to help Saab deliver the best, deployable healthcare capability to the ADF. Pelican developed 150 unique case designs and manufactured 8,500 cases for the program.

The Problem

The military operates in complex environments and rough terrain and relies on equipment to perform field operations. Custom packaging is crucial to protect the equipment and ensure it arrives in optimal condition across various locations.

For this project, our team, including design engineers, contract managers and the production team worked closely with Saab to gather requirements and analyse usage and environmental characteristics developed with the client. 

The team also provided additional expertise and support across engineering, bid, manufacturing and packaging areas.
